Look Good Backless, 6 Steps To Bring Sexy Back

The Backless look is one of the most timeless looks of all time, it’s no wonder it’s such a favourite amongst celebrities on the red carpet. It shows just the right amount of skin and because it’s your back not your front, it’s sexy in a mysterious and elegant way. Less (exposure) is more (class).
If you’ve already got a backless outfit you want to wear and you’ve got the underwear sorted (InvisiBra, obviously) then you’re all set, (if we’re talking about a regular night out or date night with your husband). But if we’re talking special occasions like weddings, birthdays, then go the extra mile and give your back the celebrity treatment. Follow our guide below and you too will be bringing sexy back and look good backless.
Most women have comprehensive beauty regimes for just about every part of the body: mani pedi, hair cuts and blow drys, facials, tanning, threading and waxing to name a few. On the other hand, your back is probably the body part you’ve most neglected. You never see it in the mirror so it’s a case of out of sight out of mind. And It’s hard to reach!

When you’re wearing something backless though, all eyes will be on that unloved patch of skin. To look good backless, your back has to look good. A smooth back is absolutely critical to a backless look. If the skin on your back is dry, blotchy or clogged with black/white heads, it’s time to show it some TLC.

1. Start with a scrub

Your back is tricky to get to so get your hands on a long handled brush. Pick a brush with natural bristles and dry brush your skin before a shower or better still, a hot bath. Dry brushing is great for stimulating blood flow which helps detox the skin and getting rid of dead skin cells. Gently move the brush in circular motions, it may feel a bit harsh at first, but trust me, you’ll find the scratchiness a bit addictive after a few goes.

2. Epsom salt bath

This is a favourite amongst celebrities. Not only does it release tensions in your back muscles, but the salt will help with water retention. If you’re feeling a bit bloated, a 20 minute soak will have you step out of the bath looking a few pounds lighter plus you’ll feel so much more relaxed, win win!

3. Moisturise

After a scrub and a hot bath, your skin is primed to absorb product, so pick a light moisturiser and slather it on. You should be able to reach most of your back by reaching with one hand at a time, but if you’re really struggling, ask a friend/partner for some help.

4. If you want to be seriously spoiled

Then treat yourself to a spa day for some OTT pampering. Our favourite is the Four Seasons in London where you can enjoy 60-90 minute treatments with a spectacular view of Hyde park, pampering doesn’t get any more luxurious than this. 5. Posture

Backless is a look that demands a certain amount of confidence, it screams “I’m sexy and I know it”. You’re not going to convey that with a hunched back. Posture is the instant correction you can make to the way you look that doesn’t cost a thing. Throw your shoulders back, suck your tummy in and lift that chin high, you’ll grow a few inches, look leaner and feel like a million dollars.

6. Work those muscles

If you’re wearing a backless wedding dress, then you have plenty of time to really prime your back so that it looks super toned. To look good backless, exercise is key. There are so many exercises ranging from easy stretching to more hardcore moves like pull ups that work back muscles. The key is to find exercises that you can do consistently and enjoy, because only through repetition will you be able to build muscle and get that sexy back. You don’t need any heavy equipment, just a pair of dumbbells and a medicine ball will do the trick. YouTube has lots of workout videos on offer so you don’t even need to spend on a gym membership if you don’t have one. Our favourite exercise moves are the superman, push-up row and yoga back bends.
