Tips to try to get the most out of your morning
We’re all guilty of having those mornings where we snooze the alarm a couple of times. Desperately trying to get a few more minutes of precious duvet time. But just think how much more productive our days would be if we got up early and actually got things done! Trying to get the most out of your morning is no easy task. But by getting into the right habits you might just find yourself turning up for work feeling energised and ready to be proactive rather than needing several lattes before 9am! Here are our top tips…
Meditation = motivation
It might seem like strange advice, telling you to relax and close your eyes after waking up in the morning. But as long as you’re out of bed and sitting somewhere bright and comfortable, meditation is a great way to prepare yourself for what the day ahead has to offer. If you’ve had a bad night’s sleep fretting over your todo list. Or even if you’re struggling to find what to wear. Taking a few minutes to gather yourself will help you to feel calm and collected, ready to take on the morning. There are some great apps you can download for free. So check them out and begin your pathway to enlightenment (or at least a rational wardrobe decision)!
Choose lemons, not coffee
Lattes, espressos, cappuccinos. They’re all delicious, but they’re full of caffeine and so dangerously addictive. Starting your day with a coffee might give you that energetic boost you need first thing. But it doesn’t last. Just a few hours later you’ll start to feel lethargic once again. Which is why we highly recommend switching that morning coffee with a tasty cup of hot water and lemon. Lemons are full of vitamins and help to increase your metabolism and detox the body. So they will help to stimulate your mind in the morning.
Exercise
The last thing you want to do when you’ve just got out of bed is hit the treadmill, but exercising first thing in the morning can really help to get your adrenalin pumping! If you’re not used to exercising in the morning, start off slow by trying a few minutes with a skipping rope or going for a brisk walk outside. Yoga is also a great form of exercise to try in the morning, and you can do it in the comfort of your own home!
Don’t skip breakfast!
Whether you choose to skip breakfast because you don’t have time or simply don’t fancy it, you’re actually depriving your body of the vital nutrients it needs to get going. Breakfast shouldn’t be grabbing a quick banana or biscuit on your way out the door, it should be a well thought, substantial meal it really is the most important meal of the day! A smoothie will take minutes to prepare and will provide you with the fuel you need for a productive morning!
