Top Foods To Eat Post-Workout

We might well now be starting to layer up for the winter, but that’s no reason to get lazy when it comes to our workout regime! Just think of all those gorgeous outfits you need to look in tip top shape for…

So if you’re going to go full steam ahead, let’s make sure it’s all worthwhile by ensuring you’re eating the right foods post sesh! Here’s our list of what you should be including on your shopping list…

Quinoa

“Keen-wah” – that stuff that has been popping up everywhere over the last few years is actually the perfect way to get your much-needed carb hit post workout. Whilst brown rice is perfectly fine, quinoa is packed full of vitamins, nutrients protein and fibre that brown rice just can’t compete with!

Berries

All berries contain antioxidants called polyphenols. These protect your cells against damage. Generally the darker the berry, the more antioxidants it contains so choose to eat dark berries like blackberries and blueberries. They are amazing in smoothies!

Bananas

Fast-acting and oozing potassium, bananas are great to keep in your gym bag (just don’t forget about them!) and to tuck into straight after your session. They’ll help to restore your body’s glycogen, helping to rebuild damaged muscles if you’ve been working just that little bit too hard!

Orange Juice

Orange juice is full of vitamin C and potassium – more than you’ll find in your well known sports drinks! If you’re feeling a little weak or light headed after a tough 45 minutes, a glass of OJ will have you feeling right as rain in no time at all!

Cherries

Cherries have many anti-inflammatory properties, which are so important for relieving muscle soreness.
